To speed up some of the image's loading times, I've changed most of the .jpg format images to .png. This cut most of the image's file sizes in half, so the page should be loading even faster now.

I've always found them to load slower. Like my site. It's all png and gif (for the small animations) and it sucks no matter how many times i go there :-\
Same for some other sites i've been to.... all png and yea... slow as hell and it has nothing to do with the coding.
plus, in IE, the coloring gets messed up... like if you do fake transparency.. the bg of the "transparent" image will be darker then what the image is on. Even if in photoshop/PSP you made them both be the same color.. it's weird

Also, only old versions of IE don't support png files.

That means that even after I changed them from .jpg, they still will load slowly. Faster then the .jpg files, but still slowly.

Ya IE7 supports transparency but it looks like sh*t. Yeah. We aren't using .png transparency anyways. It's all fake transparency on .png files.

I always thought JPG's had smaller file sizes than PNG's. Oh well. The forum does seem to load faster though.
