options like GIF and JPG have disappeared for me when trying to save something in PS. Does anyone know why?

ummm are you sure they disappeared. try saving diff files it might be an uber screwed file

No, no matter what I can't see it. Some of them are there, but I can't see the main two I use, which are JPG and GIF. thankfully PNG was there. Does PNG save transparent images as not-white.

it does, and try ImageReady, will that save as jpg or gif?

Wow that would seriously suck, can it still open files of those types in Photoshop?
Also, what happens if you just type in the save file? (ie: nameoffile.jpg)

nothing you nub. It looks like this nameoffile.jpg.gif >.>
open a file thats a jpeg and see if it will let you save as....
aslo neva use Jpeg. it sucks and it gives you image a ton of crap and noise. use .png it has best quality. and its trrranspaerent in IE7 and FF but not !E6. but IE6 sux any way
If none of that works try saving it in image ready or bridge
