How does it look. Looks okay... It could be a lot better. Its too dark and transparent IMO... Get a mild lightsource in there. The render looks too transparent... It kinda ruins it IMO. The text... Why does your text look like that on all your sigs? Thats something you should fix... (If you could, please post the process you use when you put text on your sigs. I think your doing something wrong. Also, what program do you use?) Other than that... 6.5/10 ;D

Dang, I added a lot of opacity to the render, so I thought it would help.
For the text.
I put the text in, then sort of did an outer glow, changing the glow to something I chose from the siggy, then lowered the opacity a good bit.

Dang, I added a lot of opacity to the render, so I thought it would help. Sometimes it does. But in this case since the BG is so dark, it doesn't quite fit. (IMO anyways.) Here, try this; Grab a basic font, like... "arial black" if you have it. Now, pick out a color. A grey color like you had will work fine. Next put in your caption, or copyright or whatever and place it in a good spot. (I recommend the sizes "4pt" or "5pt".) After that, lower the opacity to 70-90%. ( Don't set to like 10-20%. That doesn't always make it look good. It depends on the sig.) Now the infamous stroke. lol Take that same grey color you used earlier for the font and adjust the color's brightness in the color picker. Lower or raise the brightness until you get something that looks different enough to distinguish the difference between the two colors. Now take that new color and copy it into the stroke's color picker. Set the stroke to 1px and lower it's opacity to something like 60 or higher. NOTE: If you are going to use an outerglow effect, don't bother with the stroke. You can use a clipping mask on the text if you want. That might help blend it better. Try that and lets see how it turns out.

Sounds good, I tried some of the things you said (don't know what a clipping mask is), thanks. There is my next result.

( Clipping Mask Tut) Better. ^^ Keep your text less transparent and more opaque. Your text techniques still needs to be refined, keep working on it. Now, the only other thing I have a problem with is the darkness/transparency of the render. If I had to guess, I'd say you set the opacity on the render to like 50-65%. Bring the opacity up to like 75-80%. That should fix both problems. Next you need a mild lighting source. Here's a tut right here on XDD that helped me a bit. ( Light Source Tut ) This next step is optional, but if you want to make your render more 3D, then try the folowing steps. 1. Go to your blending options. 2. Go under Bevel & Emboss. 3. Mess with the settings until you get something that looks good. B&E it sparingly. Don't use too much or you'll ruin it. lol (If I had to recommend something... I'd say, set the depth to 80, and adjust the highlights and shadows until you get it nice looking.) Lets see how it looks after that.

I didn't get the clipping mask part, but how is this one. Actually that ones not too shabby. ;D But keep working on the text, and the lighting source. You're like on the brink of improving a lot. Overall, I gotta give you a 7.5/10. As for the clipping mask, it's simple. So, you've got your text placed in the perfect spot and the sig is pretty much done. Take a layer and duplicate it. (The should have something interesting on it, like a brushing layer or the render, etc.) Move the duplicate above the text layer and press: CTRL+ALT+G. That should turn the layer into a clipping mask. What the clipping mask does is; put the duplicate layer's image onto the layer below. In this scenario, its the text layer. It basically hides the clipping mask layer and only lets it show on the text. ...Like a window. You can use clipping masks to blend text, splatter brushes and more. Don't forget, you can also use the blending options to make your text interesting too. Hope that helped.

Well, Photoshop hates me or something, I even watched cymbals do it and did it the exact way and it didn't work. Never mind, I'm done with this siggy, but I figured out what you said, I was doing it wrong. I get it now.
