How do I rate?

How do I rate? The render isn't blended at all. Try to blend it more. Smudging, filters, brushing, etc. You decide. The BG is seriously distracting. It takes all of my focus away from the render. It looks like there's a giant explosion going on in the BG and the "big bird" is oblivious to it, like it's just casually walking around. lmao Try to tone down the action in the BG. If thats the render you want to use, I would go for a more serene look. Something simple. You know? You should also try to use colors that match the render, but at the same time make it stand out so it doesn't get lost. Even though you have LIGHT and SHADOWS, the lighting is still way off. Look at the bird, it has a shadow under it's chin. That means the lighting should be coming from either the top-right, or just barely above the bird. The lighting is way too strong. Try to have the light come from off-screen, and tone it down. Try to add some FG (Foreground) effects too. That will add depth and help blend the render a little bit. Overall: 2/10 Hope that helped.

hey man, id pull at your smudge brush and check out this tut...it should help you a lot with blending renders. www.stealthart.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5445just use the basic idea...itll help ya a TON. Hope ya like it...it helped me get to where I am with smudging in a sense...that and a good pair of chaotic brushes TRY THIS (anyone): Also, I have a suggestion for your lighting. Make a new layer first off. Fill it with all black, the go to blending options and set it to linear dodge. Then on the same layer take a soft brush about 125-150px and pick a color close to your render, but it has to be light-ish...so if your render color was dark green, pick light greenish color with the same basic feel as your render color...then just brush lightly in the area where you want light in...you will be astonished at how smexy the lighting looks. Make sure you take into account the shadows and peaks of lighting when making your light source. <3 Stone

The tut is very smexy, stone, and that lighting idea looked great. I was too lazy to save it... Sorry, but thanks for the tips, they sound very good. Around a 2/10 was what I was expecting. Here's the remake, I took out the render... It looks WAY better without the render. You should like, add a sprite or something to it. xD What are those little glossy orbs? There is the new one. I would get rid of the orbs, but I can't find them on there. o.0
