Rock and Showtunes are both my favorite genres. I could listen to Rock all day some days and showtunes all day others. In fact, before I audition for a musical I like to listen to music from it on Youtube until then that way I can get familiar with it.

Whatever sounds good. What does that mean? I'm not going to really force myself into one category.. Because I'm really not just 1 thing. I do prefer rock a bit more than the rest, but I listen to everything that doesn't suck. I listen to hip-hop, R&B, rock, metal, country , rap (not the stupid and ignorant stuff though), pop (not a ton), instrumental stuff, reggae/reggae-rock, etc... If it has a pleasing melody or fits my mood at the time I'll listen to it. I typically draw the lines as follows: - No yelling BS. That heavy metal with no real tune and the guy just f-in screaming the whole time is NOT really music. I'll make exceptions if it's on a fight video though... it fits with that. - No ignorant lyrics or stupidity (mainly in rap/ hip-hop). Stuff like talking about hoes, drugs, getting drunk, etc... just aren't good. Also, stuff like YAHHH get on my nerves a bit.. >.< - No repeating the same thing over and over and over again.. - No overly-sensitive stuff or poppy stuff. Britney Spears and super-mushy love songs are included. Well, I guess that's it for me. I replied more in-depth than most of the music threads before, mainly because recently I've thought more about what I like in music.

Bah...Killswitch Engage, Demon Hunter (yelling quite a bit there), Atreyu, and a bunch of others are good that do a lot of yelling/guttural vocals =P. Agreed. Depends what it is... Around the World by Daft Punk says "Around the World" for 7 minutes straight, but it's pretty good =P. Agreed again. These are just my opinions, though =P.

Atreyu has a nice blend of yelling and normal singing.. So does Killswitch Engage. The yelling I'm talkin about is portrayed perfectly in the following vid: Death Metal Sampler. The instrumental on all of them is usually great, but the raspy, constant yelling just.. sucks. I bet you could shuffle all the lead singers in all the bands in that vid and the songs would sound exactly the same... Although since it's music this may be just an issue of personal preference, as I'm sure tons of people like this type of vocal work.

Demon Hunter ftw. :-) I mainly listen to hardcore rock, punk rock, and techno. But I like a little bit of everything...except country.

Demon Hunter ftw indeed =P. The only Christian metal band that I like... lol.
They're not really a prime example for what Crazy was talking about tho... Cannibal Corpse would be more what he described =P. And Ten Masked Men.
