I just came down with a bad case of the hiccups... Normally, I'd just say "well, this is going to be a long and annoying 20 minutes..." but I had an idea. I took a cough-drop and swallowed the juices from it as quickly as I could. My hiccups disappeared within seconds. (It was a Hall's Cherry Flavored Cough drop with Menthol) Why is it that this is nowhere to be seen on lists of hiccups remedies? A hiccup is basically an irritation like a cough, and the menthol works like an anesthetic and calms it down quickly... Are there any other remedies that you know of, that WORKED when you or someone you know tried them? Have you ever heard of using cough-drops for hiccups?

Well, I know a girl who had hiccups for several weeks and nothing cured them, so nothing is a sure-fire cure.

Yea, that is true... I had a friend with chronic hiccups that rarely went away, and he learned to talk while hiccuping perfectly. I think he may have gone in to see a doctor a few times and they never really did anything.

That's pretty cool, being able talk while hiccuping. It's sad how that happens, there was a lady on the news who had hiccups for 60 years and when they went away she said it felt awkward, but sort of relieving.

It usually does feel awkward after hiccuping because you start to realize the timing of them and know when they come. So after they're gone you think its about to come but nothing does.

I hate it when you're hiccuping and you think it's stopped, and it keeps going.
