Matt linked me to ubuntu being sold on Best Buy's website for $20... Started reading some of the reviews and decided to add my own. I screenshotted before I submitted... I wonder if they'll accept it lol... i36.tinypic.com/1zodoop.jpg

Lol, I'd rather get it for free and install it for free.

Indeed =P. Took me about a half hour to do it on my laptop (excluding formatting time lol).

I got Ubuntu for free on my computer and thought it was terrible. Now I can't get it off. I know I'll have to do a system wipe, but I share my computer and they won't let me do that.

How's it terrible? What version were you using? I have 8.04 (Hardy Heron) on both my desktop/laptop as a dual boot (triple boot on desktop; I have Vista on the same drive as ubuntu). I actually use Ubuntu quite a bit on my laptop...very fast and easy to use.
And if you want it off... just use GParted (free partitioning tool) to wipe the Linux partition, and then merge all of your partitions again... Or keep it as a separate parition, format it as NTFS, and use it as a data partition so if you have to format, you won't lose all your documents.

It took me three weeks to get it loaded on, and then after that it went so slowly and I couldn't find out how to change certain things, and then I tried to load up the internet and it never worked, then I went back to my XP account and it worked fine.

Lol... it took me a half hour to get it installed.... Took me a little longer on my laptop because I had to get my wlan drivers working (normal drivers wouldn't work, I had to use modified drivers). My Ubuntu goes flying fast, as does Vista on my laptop. Give Linux a chance,a nd if you're willing to learn, you'll like it =). I know I was hesitant about it at first...but I started to really like it. Got it to look kinda like Vista, even (with the clear window borders and such).

Ubuntu rocks, blu. I'm not sure what you did wrong, but it should run much faster than XP does.

Well, it took me three weeks because it kept on saying it was installed, but it never showed up for a long time. I finally got on and started using it for a few hours and still kept forgetting to work. So, I want to try a different linux, Ubuntu wouldn't run the internet for me, made me so mad.
