Have you ever just taken a second to look in that direction rather than the depressing, swampy, disgusting side of life that people tend to look at so often that it sickens me?
That's what I have been trying to do lately. It's not always easy, but it definitely feels better sometimes.

Well, whenever I draw something, that's what I try to feel. I search for the good in the world and beauty (and often comedy) in whatever I'm sketching at the time.
However, I also don't think the two views are polar opposites. Without a dark side, you wouldn't know you're even looking at the bright side. So to know the good in everything, you need to be well aware of what is bad in it.

True, very true. For the time being, one cannot exist without the other.

Usually when I try to look on the bright side of things is when something bad is happening to me. I'll think about what will happen after that bad time is over and how its better than whats happening now.
If I hear depressing news it really depends on what happened if I look on the bright side of it. If someone I know died, there's really not much of a bright side at all. But if I hear gar prices goes up, it reassures me that eventually something will have to be done in mass to either stop it or find in alternative.

If someone dies, the bright side is that they are in a place where they don't feel any pain at all, usually.

I'm no religion theorist, but I'd assume that god is more of a guiding force or feeling than a hand to hold on and walk next to in the dark.

No "God" is not a guiding force, he has a plan for all of us. that does not mean we are zombie slaves just that we all serve a purpose. how did we start talking about this again?

I used to be a negative person, but ever since I started running cross country, I've learned to get over pain and discomfort, and I have so many kind and supporting friends on the team, its hard for me to be negative for more than a few minutes. (note to self, thread idea!)
Wow, every thread ever ends up being a religion argument.
If God is a kind and loving God, and hell does indeed exist, then I believe that God guides our lives, but its up to us to follow... if God made every decision in our lives, everybody would be perfect and go to heaven..
