Come next Tuesday, something will happen that hasn't happened for quite some time: The entire nation will be controlled by 1 party.
The republicans messed up REALLLLL bad in the last 8 years. Now, they are losing control of the executive branch, after already losing control of both the senate and congress.
What does this mean? Well, it makes it harder for republicans to pass bills that benefit them and their goals. This also creates an imbalance in the government that can potentially take away checks and balances.
How much power should 1 party have? Are we moving closer to a dictatorship? What can be done to stop this?

ya that's BS plus 2 of the Supreme Court justices are leaving witch means you know there going to be Democrats and that's BS when they said oh I will get someone different then me so i can get others opinions or what ever the hell they said last debate, We all know there going to pick frickin clones. >_>
I think we should refresh the congress and get them more even but like the will happen, now with the congress and SC mostly Dem. there's no way Republicans can do shit when it comes to making laws.
I don't know every thing im saying but that's what I think... I think...

You do realize that the senate is a part of a the congress, right?
Let it be. In the beginning (after the Federalists died out), we were ruled only by Republicans, then the republicans split into the Democratic-Republicans (current Democrat party) and the National Republicans (Current Republican party) and if something like that happened here, something else would happen to make two more parties.

Gimme a break, I was sick when I wrote that. And does this mean the end for the republicans? Will the democratic party split into 2 or 3 different parties that fight for control during elections?

It could, then again, it might not. You never know what will happen.

I really don't like how there's two main political parties. If an issue arises, there will be numerous ways to solve it. When another one comes, the same people shouldn't have the exact same views. Eventually it just becomes who can beat who, not who can solve the problem better. Of course how they solve it is still there, its just restricted.
In George Washington's Farewell Address he warned the people about corrupt political parties, and partisanship and wanted everyone to serve the common good. I guess anyway you try things they'll never be perfect.

So true, we would be in much better condition without political parties, of course, there would still be corruption.

We need checks and balances. Having a slight, but constant, struggle for power between parties keeps people in line... but when something like this happens, those checks are lost because 1 party over-rules another entirely. They can get people in all 3 branches of government to approve something, like heavy gun control or programs that do not benefit the public good.

I'm not trying to say have one party, I'm trying to say have no parties. A perfect system would be where the member of the government listen to the people they're presiding over, and where they just listen to just their own opinion and maybe a few people they trust. (Instead of their party)
But that's the problem. There is no perfect system. That's why we have to use the best one we've got, and try to work out the flaws in it.

Well, let the Republican party die and the Democratic party take over until it splits or another party takes the place of the Republican party. I think we need a bit of new opinions in government sometime soon. If having one party for a while is the cost for that, then let it be. Then again, the Republican party might still be there, and then they have a chance at the senate in two years. Plus, there will still be Republican governors and mayors around the US.
